Punakha Dzong, built at the confluence of two rivers in 1637, is one of the most romantic architectural settings in Asia. Punakha valley in spring is covered in jacaranda blooms — purple trees reflected in the river beside the white and gold dzong. The evening light here in October is extraordinary.

Thimphu — Capital Unlike Any Other
